LOCAL BIKE SHOP OWNER ELECTED TO NATIONAL BIKE DEALERS ASSOCIATION BOARD
Columbus, Ohio – Johnny Velo Bikes owner, John Robinson, has been elected to the National Bike Dealers Association (NBDA) Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning October, 2019. Robinson is one of three bicycle dealers in the United States elected to the seven-person board for the upcoming term.
NBDA president Brandee Lepak says, “Robinson’s past experience in strategic marketing and efficiency consulting in the banking industry helped him launch a bike shop that quickly become a vital part of the community. We look forward to his insight as the board works together to ensure the NBDA serves the needs of independent bike dealers and their customers across the country.”
Robinson is excited for this opportunity to serve the bike industry. “I opened a bike shop because I wanted to be the kind of shop I needed when I bought my first road bike--friendly, welcoming, eager to help new cyclists get started.”
The NBDA believes that the local bicycle dealer adds significant value to the selection, assembly, fit, and ongoing maintenance of a new bicycle. That value cannot be duplicated by any outlet that trades a bike in a box for a customer’s money. The team at Johnny Velo Bikes shares this belief.
“The NBDA is an important source of support and education for new bikes shops and those who’ve been around for decades,” says Robinson. “ I’m looking forward to increasing membership, creating a shop standards certification, and finding ways to mentor new shop owners in the industry.”
